Our July lecture explores the psychological mechanisms behind screen addiction and its effects on emotional well-being with Dr. Sanj Katyal
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Zoom Meeting (Virtual Only)
If you frequently check your phone, sacrifice sleep to binge-watch series, or find it difficult to unplug, you're not alone. In a world dominated by constant connectivity and instant gratification, it is not a shock to learn that the average person spends about 7-10 hours a day on screens and over half of the US shows signs of digital addiction.
"Screens, Stress, and Self: Navigating Addiction, Anxiety, and Unfulfilled Potential" examines how excessive screen time and digital addiction impact mental health, leading to increased stress, anxiety, and feelings of unfulfilled potential.
Drawing on recent research, the talk explores the psychological mechanisms behind screen addiction, its effects on emotional well-being, and the ways it can disrupt personal growth and life satisfaction. Attendees will gain insights into the risks of prolonged digital engagement and learn strategies for achieving a healthier balance between online activities and real-life fulfillment.
Presented by Dr. Katyal, author of Positive Philosophy: Ancient and Modern Wisdom to Create a Flourishing Life.
